New Shooter Clinics

Gun safety is a top priority in this sport. Experienced shooters will assist you in acquiring the basic skills necessary to safely shoot off your horse.
Welcome To The World of Cowboy Mounted Shooting!
You do not need an experienced shooting horse or a particular breed of horse to compete. An experienced horse will make the road to being competitive shorter, but is not necessary. We use our gun broke horses to assist you with acclimating your horse. Desensitizing your horse to any type of gun fire before the clinic will improve the odds of success, but is not mandatory. You will need to be able to guide your horse through the patterns with one hand.
The Mid-Ohio Marauders are glad to share our skills and equipment to teach new shooters the ropes. You do not need guns, holsters or period clothing to participate. We encourage new shooters to borrow equipment in the beginning so they have a chance to learn what will work for them.
